Do You Have The Courage?

by Barbara

Courage

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, courage is the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous. The history of the human experience is filled with examples of courageous stories. There are numerous tales of animals being saved in treacherous waters, at the risk of life and limb. Some rescuers have survived, and others did not. They gave the ultimate sacrifice so that another could live. What about the courage a person summons from the bottom of their gut, to speak up and tell their truth? Or the courage to pursue your heart’s desire, your soul’s mission, even when others tell you no, you’ll never accomplish it?

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because
without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.”
― Maya Angelou

On the scale of the levels of consciousness, by David R. Hawkins, in his book: Power vs. Force, courage is the beginning of the power side of the scale and the vibration is 200. All of the levels we looked at in the previous articles; shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, and pride, are on the lower part of the scale in the category of force. These lower levels hold a contracted vibration. In other words, we as humans with an energy field, have a low, denser vibration when we dwell in these states of being.

“A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for.”
― William G.T.

When we are in the state of courage, we view life as feasible. We see how our struggles are here to teach us about something. We may not know exactly what we are learning, but we have an inkling that somehow, if we have trust in ourselves, that everything is going to work out in the end. We summon our inner strength and we know it as courage. At this level, we are beginning to understand that there will be challenges to overcome. Our truth will need to be faced, whether we like it or not. We begin to realize that we will find support in our endeavors, because our friends and others of like mind will mirror the approval we’ve been looking for inside of ourselves.

“Courage is grace under pressure.”
― Ernest Hemingway

Courage is an expansive state of vibration. We begin to attract what we are seeking. It could be a loving relationship, or the help we need to complete a project. The emotion we are feeling with courage is affirmation. This is why positive affirmations we repeat daily, work for us, because the message we send out to the Universe is matching our vibration.

I remember years ago when I “died” in front of an audience during my second Toastmasters speech, I firmly resolved to muster the courage to re-work the speech and give it again. If I had not successfully delivered that speech the second time, I would not have walked through that lesson in courage, and I would have to repeat the excruciating experience all over again, in another situation.

“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice
at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.”
― Mary Anne Radmacher

Courage requires we step out of our comfort zone. We simply cannot grow spiritually staying comfortable. We must stretch our wings, and fly. We may trip on the road and fall down. Courage requires us to stand back up, dust off our pants of experience, and keep on walking in our truth. All of us have a contribution to the world. During the eight months it took me to make a porcelain doll to enter into national competition, my doll-making instructor discouraged me every day from entering into competition. She had a bad experience and she wanted to protect me from rejection and disappointment. I ignored her pleadings. Something inside of me wanted to help her overcome her perspective that not everyone will have the same experience. When my doll won the grand prize, it was a reflection of my skills and my instructor’s knowledge and artistic skills too. It took courage on my part not to be dissuaded from my goal.

“Just because you fail once doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything.”
― Marilyn Monroe

At the level of consciousness of courage, we are feeling the thrill of the experience, and the confirmation of trust in ourselves. When you are at a point in your life where you must be courageous, remember that everyone involved is helping you to experience the mastery of courage. Know in your heart, that you asked for the lessons you are walking through, have faith in yourself, and be grateful for the ability to succeed.

Blessings and love!
